17th Annual Mardi Gras Masters Swim Meet – Saturday, February 9, 2013

Attention all Sharks! It is once again time for our team to shine at the annual Mardi Gras SCY Swim Meet, hosted by the Miami Redfin Masters in Oxford, Ohio!

The meet is held at Miami University’s spacious, state-of-the-art Aquatics Center, only a few hours from Columbus. We will organize carpools that will leave from St. Charles around 9:00 am, which will (taking into account a stop for breakfast) get us to Oxford in plenty of time for the warm-up swim, which begins at noon. The meet itself starts at about 1:10 pm, and will run most of the afternoon. The Sharks usually stop somewhere on the way home for a team dinner, and get back to Columbus in the evening.

If you want to swim in the meet, you’ll need to mail in your own individual entry form (click HERE to download). The entry fee is $25 if you postmark it by February 1, or e-mail it by February 3. If you miss the deadline, you can deck-enter the day of the meet for $40. When you register, select the individual events you wish to compete in. On the day of the meet, we’ll also put together team relay events carefully calculated to earn the team MAXIMUM POINT GAIN! And MARDI GRAS BEADS!!

Swim meets are for everyone – you do not need to be a super-fast swimmer to compete. You don’t even have to dive or do flip-turns – there are alternatives! Every swimmer helps earn points for the team, and the more people that participate, the more fun it is.

Our coaches will help us practice racing starts and turns in the weeks leading up to the meet, so if this is your first competition, don’t worry – we’ll get you ready.

We had a great turnout at this meet last year (check out the photo album HERE) — let’s make this year’s even better!
